However, the single-ply and medicated paper didn't quite catch on with the masses. It wasn't until Scott Paper began producing rolls of toilet paper on a massive scale in 1879 that the product gained more widespread acceptance. As the industry grew, other companies such as the Albany Perforated Wrapping Paper Company began producing their own version of toilet paper, and the rest is history!
The Introduction of Modern Toilet Paper Rolls
Modern toilet paper as we know it today, rolled and perforated for easy tearing, was introduced to the market in the early 20th century. Invented by the Northern Tissue Company in 1935, the first rolled toilet paper was named Northern Tissue.
